I did my beauty therapy course in Portugal over 30 years ago. I then arrived in London in 1995 and worked as a chamber maid while practicing my English. In 1996 I started in beauty based in the UK, this time with a variety of course and treatment that include manicures, pedicures, facials, massages, the Bowen Technique, waxing, electrolysis, laser hair removal, body treatments and much more. I again did some refresher courses to learn more complex English terms and to keep up to date.
In 2007 I learned laser hair removal and from 2008 to December 2017 I worked at Transhealth clinic where I had the opportunity to work with Dr. Richard Curtis. He taught me how to employ local anaesthetic and I am now able to use so that I effectively carry out electrolysis on transgender clients not only for face but also for genital area prior to surgery.
I have been doing this job now for the last 10 years and I can say that working with trans people has been a great experience. I absolutely love that I have had the chance to help a lot of transgender clients with the work that I do.
Electrolysis can be very painful so the local anaesthetic is very useful because it allows me to work on clients for up to 6 hours. This has led to clients travelling from all over the UK to visit me in London.
