Joe is a qualified clinical hypnotherapist and son of Marianne Oakes, the lead counsellor at GenderGP. Joe has worked with a wide range of patients, including adults, young adults and children, covering a number of different issues within the trans community and beyond. Joe has a down to earth, easy-going approach to hypnotherapy, he believes that a great rapport is the foundation of productive therapy session, and as such he is focused on delivering his sessions in a relaxed and safe environment.
Joe’s background as a peripatetic music teacher delivering drum lessons in schools, gives him a unique insight into working with young people. He has also worked as a session drummer with some of the UK’s biggest artists. Joe owns and runs a high-end recording studio facility, which enables him to provide people with high quality recordings of their personalised hypnotherapy sessions. Each session is personalised to meet the needs of the patient, ensuring that they leave each session with the tools they need to move forward. Joe has been a strong supporter and ally of the LGBTQA+ community for many years, growing up with a parent who is a trans women and a gay uncle. This has given him insight and understanding into the difficulties and issues that many people face in the community. He is passionate about helping people cope with these same issues and learning to live a positive and brighter life.
