GenderGP is incredibly proud of the work that began with our Founder, Dr Helen Webberley, in 2015. This work has facilitated the care and support of thousands of trans people across the world, enabling them to move forward with their lives.

As an organisation which proudly affirms trans individuals of all ages, we are no stranger to the controversy and the political machinations that surround this area of healthcare. We are unwavering in our support for Dr Helen and, regardless of the outcome, we will work tirelessly to continue the vital work she started.

We trust that the hearing will provide the opportunity to acknowledge the importance of equality in trans healthcare and that we will be able to welcome Dr Helen back as a medical practitioner – as well as the fierce advocate she has become.

In the meantime we will continue to provide the highest levels of gender-affirming care to all those who need it, however old they are and wherever they happen to be in the world.

GenderGP welcomes the GMC hearing, as an opportunity for a spotlight to be shone on the inequitable state of trans healthcare in the UK and further afield, and the efforts taken by Dr Webberley to bring about meaningful progress for this marginalised group at the highest level.

We are confident that the evidence will speak for itself and that the reputation of our Founder, together with the incredible work she has done, will result in a positive outcome for both her and for trans healthcare. You can read Dr Helen’s statement here.

We will keep the community informed of progress on the case as things unfold.
