Welcome to GenderGP

GenderGP provides advocacy, support, advice, healthcare and access to a range of complementary services, which enable trans people to live their lives more easily.

In recent years, understanding around what it means to be trans has increased significantly. This has led to many more people stepping forward and asking for help with their social, medical and legal transition.

At the same time we have seen a shift in people’s acceptance, as more and more people’s lives are touched by someone who is trans and the desire to help begins to bring about positive change.

Our vision is a world where people can embrace their gender identity, free from discrimination and prejudice: our website is part of the solution.

Whether you are trans yourself, or supporting someone who is, we are delighted to welcome you to the GenderGP community.

This is the best service you can find for the transgender community. They provide all the help a trans person needs at a time when you feel vulnerable and the NHS don’t want to provide the support you need and just want to gate keep and put you on long waiting lists. In my experience GenderGP are friendly and helpful and helped me in a very timely manner. They didn’t gate keep and listened to what I wanted and where I wanted to go with my transition. Within months i was on my hormone treatment and i am happily moving forward with my transition. 5 stars service from me. Much love to everyone at GenderGP keep up the brilliant work! Without you I would be stuck in a dark place forever.

I am a transwoman and after initially seeing my GP, I found my self worrying about how I would have to wait for over a year for my GIC appointment. I wanted to prevent further changes due to testosterone, including the loss of my hair. After a long time looking for faster routes, I began to lose hope and reached the end of my tether but managed to stumble across GenderGP. I sent a email message and was shocked to receive not only a reply, but actual prescriptions for the medications that I needed. To this day I don’t know where I would be if it hadn’t been for the GenderGP amazing online serve. I have recommended it already to all of my transgender friends who reside in the UK.

I found the GenderGP website after some research on transgender forums. I’ve been making steps to transition since opening up to my therapist in April. When my initial referral for Charing Cross came back and mentioned a 13 month waiting list I wasn’t surprised, but it made up my mind to look at private care to bridge the gap to my first NHS GIC appointment. The GenderGP team are professional, attentive and supportive, providing the relevant information and guidance for each step of the process.the team have been fantastic throughout the consultation and the day my prescription came through I was in much happier place. Thank you,

Gender GP is providing a lifeline for myself and a friend at a time when the NHS GICs are letting us down badly (we’ve been on interminable waiting lists for 18+ months). It’s early days, but the service they have offered us so far has been compassionate, understanding, and helpful. The IGS had some questions which sounded strange and a little outdated – very much rooted in the ‘traditional’ gender binary. But in terms of support and duty of care, they’re giving the best they can under what I can only describe as exceptional circumstances, considering the current climate in the UK. The staff at Gender GP are giving us hope and helping to make our dreams real, to fully live our best lives.
