Thirteen sexual health and HIV charities, led by the Terrence Higgins Trust, have issued a strong and committed statement in support of trans and gender diverse people.
In the statement the charities make clear their ‘absolute commitment to supporting the rights of trans, non-binary, and gender diverse communities, and their acknowledgment of the ‘long history of commitment and mutual support between gender and sexual minorities facing shared struggles’.
“We continue to stand together with our trans friends, colleagues, and service users, today and always.”
Focusing on the fight to end HIV by 2030, the charities highlight how the current online and media attacks on trans communities are similar to past tactics used to target people with HIV, and how the need to stand together against discrimination is as important today as its ever been.
