The World Congress of Sexual Health recently released a DECLARATION ON SEXUAL PLEASURE which contains all sorts of fabulous statements like:

“The possibility of having pleasurable and safe sexual experiences free of discrimination, coercion, and violence is a fundamental part of sexual health and well-being for all”

“Sexual pleasure includes the possibility of diverse sexual experiences.”

“Sexual pleasure shall be integrated into education, health promotion and service delivery, research and advocacy in all parts of the world.”

We are here for all of that (and more!) and we love how trans-inclusive the declaration is. Sexual pleasure is something rarely talked about in general society, let alone in relation to the trans community and so we decided to delve right in and explore the topic.

Over the coming weeks, we’ll be bringing you sex educators, podcasts, real-life stories of trans sex, pleasure and intimacy and more.

To start us off, we asked the community where they go to for their sex ed; who they listen to, read and follow.

Here’s where you told us you go to learn about sex…

Websites

Sense

This Dutch site is the most comprehensive sex ed website we found, with a whole section dedicated to trans sex ed and another to intersex sex ed. Sense has information on everything, from types of penises to sex after lower surgery.

Teen Vogue

Trans-friendly, sex-positive Teen Vogue has run articles like “Transgender People on What They Wish They Had Learned in Sex Ed”, “How to Have Sex if You’re Queer” and “How to Navigate Gender Dysphoria While having Sex”

Bish

Bish is a website full of easy to read sex ed for everyone over the age of 14, topics include “How to talk about safer sex”, dry humping, contraception options, STIs and more.

Scarleteen

Much like Bish, Scarleteen is a website full of info. Pitched towards younger people (or as they describe their target audience: teens and emerging adults), it contains lots of amazing insights and answers to questions. Scarleteen also runs a message board and a Live Chat where you can ask for help or advice.
