GenderGP has been revolutionising the provision of healthcare for trans and non binary people since 2015. We have listened to literally thousands of stories from individuals about how their gender identity feels different to the one they were assigned at birth.
Using this insight, we have created a bespoke and individualised gender appraisal pathway, that puts the user in charge of their gender journey.
We recognise that the individual is the expert in their own gender, and we use our expertise in medicine and psychology to create a journey that is safe and effective. Our aim? To help each person live their life more easily.
The support and respect we have earned from the trans community has been amazing. On a daily basis we receive thank you messages and feedback which tell us that we have saved lives, helped people and made life worth living again. Who could ask for a better outcome?
Of course there are those who don’t get it. Those who feel that a person is unable to understand their own gender without months of assessments and years of counselling. Those who feel that being trans is a “lifestyle choice” or a passing phase. Our job is not to convince those people who feel the right way forward is to put up barriers. Our job is to break those barriers down.
As we see other centres around the world and in the UK start to use digital technology to reach into people’s homes, we know that our model is influencing change and we couldn’t be more proud to be leading the way.
GenderGP doctors, therapists and patients communicate freely, share knowledge and information and make robust plans for the future.
We are incredibly proud of what we have achieved and no more so than when we hear from members of our community whose lives have been turned around with a little help and support.
Trans people deserve the same access to good healthcare, both physical and mental, as their cisgender counterparts. GenderGP has proudly paved the way for the future. Alongside our transgender friends we have faced and overcome challenge, assault and resistance.
And through all of this adversity we have become stronger.
GenderGP is proudly expanding to provide services to trans people all over the world. We are excited to use our gender-affirmative model – which has proven so successful with our users – to help people of all ages.
Thank you to everyone who has helped us on our journey so far. We are proud to be a part of your community.
