The High Court has today ruled in favour of a judicial review claim which means children and young people may not be able to consent to hormone-blocking treatment in cases of gender dysphoria.

The legal case was brought against the Tavistock and Portman NHS Trust which leads the national Gender Identity and Development Service (GIDS). The puberty blocking drugs provided by the service are prescribed and administered by endocrinologists at UCLH and Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
